Weight Loss through Dancing Salsa and Ceroc in SpainWARNING: SALSA CAN SERIOUSLY ALTER YOUR LIFE To maintain one’s health the medical profession suggest we exercise on a regular basis: join a gymnasium, jog three times a week, swim fifty lengths a day. Good advice but many people who start out with the best of intentions quickly fall by the way. Are they weak willed? Is it physically too challenging? No the majority drop out because they are bored. An alternative way to keep fit and lose weight is to dance. Students rarely enroll for my salsa classes with this in mind. They come because they want to learn to dance. But whether they dream of being stars in the making or are just out to learn the basic moves the outcome is always the same. Not only do they achieve a much higher level of fitness, but their body-shape gradually changes. Heads are held more erect, spines lengthen, tummies flatten, bums become firmer, and without doubt the students walk with a much more fluid gate. At the end of a class there is a feeling of well-being, metabolism is raised, oxygen intake has increased, and the whole body is glowing. In reality a fairly stiff work-out has been turned into a fun event. There is another equally wonderful benefit to be gained from dancing. During class, the brain is completely occupied with laying down new patterns thus leaving no room to speculate on the problems of the day. Without exception one’s blues are quite simply danced away. Give it a try, learn the moves keep fit and lose weight at the same time. One is never too old or indeed too young to dance the blues away. But be warned: dancing is addictive and can seriously alter your life. By the kind permission of the Auther: Lynda Morrison, one of our friendly team.
