 Mountain Running ... above the clouds

Mountain running in Spain  

 The weather and mountainous region, make it ideal for us to promote mountain running. The Spanish are very much into mountain running, throughout the year. The majority are around 21km ranging up to 180 and more. So if you are a mountain runner, this is the place to put yourself to the test. The mountain season is very much like the Marathon, season, from around Oct through to April. However there are that many, we can usually find a mountain run or trail most weekends. The image here shows the Gandia Vertical 12km, finishing on the top of the mountain, you then jog back down, around 6km for refreshments, t shirts etc. There are lots of refreshments on route, fresh fruits, various drinks and energy bars.

With many, indeed most of the races being free to enter, Amanda enters a lot but you know what they say, "you have to be in it to win it " We have that many trophies now, that there are far too many to have around the villa. If however you wish to take home a trophy then all you have to do is enter a race and win your category. Categories are usually Eilte, senior, then Veterans to 35, vets to 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 etc. If you are unlucky, your may be ain a category over 35 for all veterans. This has happened to nyself and Amanda and she has still won ! Yes, just this weekend in Benissa, Amanda was the first female over 35, great run.

A 12km race in the very pretty town of Gandia. This is a measured course around the town of Gandia in December every year. A very flat course as the town is only  1km from the beach. Indeed the race goes out to the sea front and returns Guests may race  over distances from 1 mile to Marathon. We have guests entered for the  Santa Pola in Jan. There should be around 6000 runners, this really is one of the best Half Marathons in Europe and well worth a visit. So why not join us and run your PB in Santa Pola. It is a flat and fast course, with runners from all over the world

Your stay may be as short as one night or as long as a month. We try to arrange a race for runners whilst you are here on your break. The weekends are tailored to your specific requirements including coaching advice, stretching, exercise advice and training schedules to meet your event-based weekend. You may choose to enter a Marathon and stay for 14 nights, the choice is up to you. We specialise in running and coaching athletes, catering for all levels of runner, therefore you will be training with someone of your own ability.

Our activities and exercises are geared for runners, whether your stay is a short break or a longer holiday. We do offer other activities for non runners, dancing, tennis and yoga. You choose the type of training which suits your individual needs, you may wish to run twice a day, or every other day. Whatever your ability we have someone to run with you.
